EM Design   


EM Design

Designer offers two EM Design simulators: an HFSS simulator and a Planar electromagnetic simulator. EM Design simulators are the ideal tools for projects that involve full-wave or radiative effects for multi-layered structures. You can use Designer to draw the physical layout of a patch antenna or a millimeter-wave integrated circuit and then simulate the electromagnetic properties to display:

• Radiated electric fields

• Basic electromagnetic field quantities

• Characteristic port impedances and propagation constants

• Basic far-field parameters for electromagnetic fields and antennas

• Generalized S-parameters, and S-parameters renormalized to specific port impedances

The following sections will guide you through the physical design and EM analysis of a low-pass filter. As you work through this sequence of EM Design topics, you will:

• Start Designer and explore the EM Design tools

• Use the EM Design toolbars

• Learn terms and concepts essential to EM Design simulation

• Add a custom-defined dielectric material to a design

• Create a report to display simulation results

 

Note

Both EM Design products may not be available to you, depending on the Designer/Nexxim product configuration you have purchased. If this is the case, please refer to Nexxim Design or System Design for more information about how to use the other simulators in Designer.
