Creating Models and Model-Based Components

Creating Models and Model-Based Components

Designer allows you to create models and model-based components by using the Add Model command of the Project menu. The same submenu is also available from the right-click menu of the Models folder in the Designer Project tree.

Using the Add Model command, you can insert into a schematic either a model, a dynamic link, or a model-based component. When you select one of the following Add Model submenu entries, a corresponding dialog is opened that allows you to configure the item you wish to add:

• Add 2DExtractor Model opens the 2DExtractor Model dialog described in Adding a Dynamic Link N-Port from 2DExtractor

• Add HFSS Model opens the HFSS Model dialog described in Add an HFSS N-Port Model

• Add Nexsys Matlab Model opens the Matlab Model dialog described in Nexsys MATLAB User Defined Models.

• Add Nport Model opens the N-port data dialog described in Creating an N-Port Model

• Add Parametric Model opens the Parametric N-port Model dialog described in Creating a Parametric N-Port Model

• Add Q3D Model opens the Q3D Model dialog described in Adding a Dynamic Link N-Port from Q3D

• Add SIwave Model opens the SIwave Model dialog described in Adding a Dynamic Link N-Port from SIwave

• Add State-space Model opens the State-Space file import dialog described in Creating a State-Space N-Port Model.

Note

You can drag and drop one or more copies of a model from the Components and Models folders in the project tree to a schematic. Alternately, you can select Copy from the Project tree right-click menu and then select Paste from the schematic right-click menu (or use the Ctrl-c and Ctrl-v keyboard commands).

If Multiple Placement is turned on for components in Designer’s Schematic Options dialog box, you can place multiple instances of a component in the schematic by clicking at multiple locations. To stop placing components during multiple placement, do either of the following:

• Press ENTER, the SPACEBAR, BACKSPACE, or ESC on your keyboard.

• Right-click, and then select Place and Finish, Finish, Cancel, or Back.
