Setting Up Excitations

To define a problem’s excitation in the Layout Editor, you can use the following types of excitations:

When you specify an excitation for a Planar EM structure, Designer uses the principle of linear superposition to calculate the solution. The signal on each port and mode is solved for separately. Designer sets the signals on all non-zero modes and generates a solution. This procedure is repeated with each port until a solution is generated for each.
