Automotive radar is becoming increasingly important for car designers, due to the huge role it plays in securing and ensuring the driver’s safety. There are actually some benefits of the 79 GHz Radar: A high-resolution system can determine whether a vehicle will crash into an object or there will be a near miss. A low-resolution system will have a higher rate of false alarms and will miss a small object that is in front.
While a high attenuation might be a disadvantage for many applications, it does allow frequency reuse within very short distances.
In fact, the attenuation limits the distance of mmwave radar which, in the case of having thousands of cars on the road using their radars simultaneously, is a good thing.
In this video, we will talk about how CST Studio Suite(R) can be used to perform and analyze all of the design stages of automotive radars, starting from the antenna, through its integration inside a radome, to placing and calibrating the whole package inside the car.
