Transformation Settings

Some of the transformations in Filter Design Tool are replacements with approximate equivalent circuits. These transformations use variable frequency, impedance, and length information. Each of these values can be changed using Transformation Settings dialog box.

This dialog box is also used for selecting transformations which have numerous options that won’t fit into the menu, Replace Inverter to name one.

To edit transformation settings:

1. Bring up the dialog box by clicking Transformation Settings on the Filter>Transform submenu.

2. In the dialog box, type in the desired fields under Settings group.

3. You may check if any transformation uses a field by clicking the transformation in the tree on the left and observing the field. If the field has an asterisk (*) before its label, the field is used in that transformation.

4. You may also check what cases of transformation are available by selecting different items under Case: and observing From: and To: circuit schematics. These are sample schematic for the input and output of the transformation selected, and if you want to apply that transformation, you have to select a section like the one in the From: figure. Also, underneath the Settings, there are other details about the transformation such as applicability to different elements combined in the shown structure etc.

5. Click OK.

To modify transformation view-settings, do either of the following:

• Click View > Reset Orientation to reset the transformation to a top-down standard Cartesian coordinate orientation.

• Click View > Faster Transformations to disable the drawing of pad-stacks, vias, and pins during mouse operations on the display (rotation, zooming, panning, etc). The pad-stacks are redrawn as soon as the operation completes.
