Moving Transformers

If transformers are present in the circuit, you cannot simply delete them unless their turn ratio is 1.0 because the response may be severely distorted. You can however, move them to the end of the circuit and combine them there, expecting them to cancel. In symmetric circuits, i.e., where the source and load terminations are the same and the filter is an odd-order one, this is usually the case and you can get rid of the transformers this way. In any case, if you do not like the placement of a transformer, here is what you can do:

To move transformers to the load side and/or absorb them in the load:

1. Select one or more transformers.

2. To move the transformer to the load side, click Move on the Transformer submenu on the Filter>Element submenu.

3. To move transformers to the load side and absorb them in the load termination, click Absorb on the Transformer submenu on the Filter>Element submenu.

Moving a transformer along the circuit or absorbing it in the load is an exact-equivalent transformation and therefore the response does not change after these operations.
