Lumped to Distributed

You can replace a lumped element such as an inductor or a capacitor with a distributed stub element. The replacement will be made by approximating the response of the lumped and distributed sections around at a given frequency and given physical length. The frequency (f_o) and length are obtained from filter specifications and are usually the best choices. However you can change these in the Transformation Settings dialog box.

This transformation is not an exact-equivalent operation. The filter response is optimized at f_o, but it will be distorted for other frequencies.

To replace a lumped element with a distributed element:

1. Select a lumped element such as inductor, capacitor or an LC-resonator.

2. Click Lumped to Distributed on the Filter>Transform submenu. If the frequency f_o is not suitable for the operation, you will be asked to enter another value for the frequency of application.
