Changing Element Length

You can change the length of a transmission line, distributed stub, stub resonator or a coupled line using the Lengths dialog box.

To edit lengths:

1. Select an element in the schematic.

2. Bring up the dialog box by clicking Length on the Filter>Element submenu.

3. Type a new length in the Physical Length field. Filter Design Tool uses the Physical Length convention for element lengths. However, a test section is also provided where you can enter Electrical Length and Frequency information and do the conversion. To calculate any of the fields from the other two, click on one of the appropriate buttons: Phys. Lng, Frequency, Elect. Lng.

4. To set the length of every element circuit to the length you have specified, check Apply to all elements in the circuit. All applicable elements will then have the same length, and inapplicable ones will simply be ignored. You may use this option to move the response of the filter along the frequency axis, for example when you are designing the filter for different corners and/or center frequency.

5. Click OK.
