Shape Intersection Dialog

Modeling: Shapes / Tools...... [OK]

If at least one of the settings in the Objects Boolean Intersection Check Settings dialog is checked, the shape intersection dialog opens automatically after you have created a new shape (B) which intersects with one (or more) existing shapes (A).  Later on you may call the intersection check foe selected shapes manually via Modeling: ToolsBooleanPerform Intersection Check.... To perform a complete intersection check, choose Simulation: CheckIntersection Check ().

You can decide what should be done with the resulting intersecting shapes. However, for some materials combinations of shapes  A and B the shape intersection dialog will not appear. In these cases no boolean operation needs to be specified. Before the program calculates the material matrices it will combine them automatically in the following manner:

Material type of shape A

Material type of shape B

Automatically applied boolean operation

PEC

Add

PEC

Normal

Insert  A into B

Surface loss

Normal

Insert  A into B

Surface loss

Surface loss

Add  if both materials share the same conductivity

None

Leaves both shapes as they are. Usually this is not recommended, because it will lead to an ambiguous distribution of material.

None to all

Same as None but no other intersection checks are performed. This is not recommended as well, it will lead to many ambiguous distributions of material.

Insert highlighted shape

Inserts shape B into shape A (see also Insert Mode).

Trim highlighted shape

Inserts shape A into shape B (see also Insert Mode).

Add both shapes

Adds shape A and shape B (see also Add Mode).

Intersect both shapes

Intersects shape A and shape B (see also Intersect Mode).

Cut away highlighted shape

Subtract B from A (see also Subtract Mode). Note: If you created the new shape, to slice parts out of multiple other shapes, you should select Insert shape instead and delete the tool shape afterwards manually.

Transp.

Switches the visualization of the according shape between transparent and opaque.

OK

Performs the selected operation and closes the dialog box.

Cancel

Closes this dialog box without performing any further action.
