Q factors for Capacitors

The discussion of lossy inductors can be extended to lossy capacitors except lossy capacitors are modeled with an equivalent parallel loss resistor:

Using this model, Q factor takes the following form for capacitors:

For ideal lossless elements, Rd = infinity, therefore Q is infinitely large. In that sense, high-Q capacitors tend to have lower loss and are preferred over low-Q ones.

Practical capacitors can already have high-Q values, therefore if there are two circuit models having the same response, it is better to choose the one with more capacitors and fewer inductors for realization.
