Block Selection Tree

The Block Selection Tree is one of the main docking windows of the CST DESIGN ENVIRONMENT GUI. It can be toggled via the context menu within the ribbon bar.

Inside the block selection tree, you may select a component to insert into the schematic view. The components are organized in different sections.

You can choose between a small and a large symbol representation of the components in the block selection area (the lower part of the window) by using the context menu.

The insertion of a component into the schematic view is performed by drag ’n’ drop, which means that you click the left mouse button over a component symbol, then keep the button pressed until you reach the location where the component is to be inserted; finally, release the mouse button to complete the insertion. When the component is moved inside the schematic view, a template of the component is displayed at the current location for better orientation.

The block selection tree also shows the internal port representation of every block. You can connect a block by dragging one of its internal ports and dropping it at another highlighted port or connector in the schematic view.

Every block dropped in the schematic view will be added to the Recently used blocks tree item. With this feature, you can quickly access the frequently-used blocks. File-based blocks, such as CST MICROWAVE STUDIO blocks or Touchstone blocks, will save the information about their reference. The number of blocks that should be saved in the bar can be changed via the context menu entry Change number of recent entries.....

Activate recent bar after insertion: Enable this option if you want to change automatically to the Recently used blocks tree folder after the insertion of an element.

Clear list of recently used blocks: Removes all blocks from the Recently used blocks tree folder.

When CST DESIGN STUDIO™ is exited, the entries of the Recently used blocks bar will be saved and will be available the next time CST DESIGN STUDIO starts.
