Budget Domain Measurements

The following measurements are available with the budget domain:

1. S-parameters: S11, S12, S21, and S22 (50ohms, cum and delta)

2. Noise figure: NF (50ohms, cum and delta)

3. Signal to noise ratio: SNR (cum and delta)

4. Noise power: NPWR (cum and delta)

5. Output power: Pout (cum and delta)

6. Output frequency: Fout (cum and delta)

7. Third order intercept output power: OIP3 (50ohms, cum and delta)

8. One-dB compression output power: P1dB (50ohms, cum and delta)

Where 50ohms, cum and delta are budget types used to view the budget domain measurements:

•  50ohms: The measurements obtained for each individual component when all of the ports are terminated by 50Ω.

•  cum: The cumulative measurements obtained from the input port of the system up to the output port of each component in the system taking into account the actual terminating impedance.

•  delta: This represents the contribution made by each component to a given measurement. It is the difference between the cumulative measurements up to the output and input ports of each component.

All budget measurements (e.g. S-parameters, OIP3) are calculated based on the formulas discussed previously for the sweep domain, taking into account the budget type (i.e., 50ohms, cum or delta).

 

Note 

The S-parameters for a nonlinear system are the large-signal S-parameters. No probes are available in budget domain measurements.
