Pad Ports

Pad Ports

A pad port is a gap source that can wrap around a model’s corners or be located inside a polygon object. It has the following restrictions:

• Pad ports cannot lie inside a metal polygon object unless the polygon is connected to a void.

• A pad port that curves cannot be changed to a gap source.

Note

A gap source that is made up of straight line segments can be changed to a pad port by clearing the Use Port Solver option in the Edge Port Definition window.

Designer will use a default characteristic impedance of 50 ohms for the pad port. The propagation constant is set to the propagation constant in Teflon, in order to agree with the propagation constant of coaxial probe ports.
