Infinite Arrays

Infinite Arrays

(Planar EM only)

Designer can model infinite periodic structures where geometry drawn in a “unit cell” is repeated infinitely in the x and y directions. If you excite the infinite array with an edge port, the excitation will radiate into free space. If you excite the array with a plane wave, the structure will act as a frequency-selective surface (FSS) or filter receiving the excitation.

An example of an infinite array lattice is show below, where gamma is the skew angle, and
a is the width and b the height of the unit cell of the array.
