The problem with your system, as far as I can tell, is that it does not account for the fact that generally only about 40% of the stated bandwidth of a wireless system is reliably available, unless you're talking about highly-focused point-to-point systems such as microwave links.  The fact is that your system, as implemented, cannot possibly keep all of its nodes in sync without running into reliability problems.  Either the system runs out of bandwidth trying to update lists of neighbors and their distances, or it conserves bandwidth by using fewer updates at the expense of the quality of position data.
