Massively distributed sensor networks are capable of linking people and the ph
ysical world together, providing platforms for information to be collected, sh
ared, and processed in unprecedented ways. It is commonly recognized that sens
or network research will lead to smart sentient spaces for our home and enviro
nment, work and leisure. It can help us to fight against disasters, protect us
from hazards, and strengthen our defense. With the success of SNA05, and ever
growing research and applications in Asia Pacific region, the role of SNA is
to provide a forum for researchers, government decision makers, funding agenci
es, and industries, to foster novel ideas, to explore new research opportuniti
es, and to discover creative applications and products.
This conference involves many research fields including sensor network platfor
ms, wireless communications, networking and protocols, collaborative and distr
ibuted processing, data bases and system management. It is commonly recognized
that killer applications are key to the development of sensor networks. Topic
s in technical sessions include, but not limited to, the following:
Sensor network platforms
Network coverage, connectivity & longevity
Network protocols, topology, and management
Localization
Energy and resource management
Collaborative and distributed signal processing
Fusion of multimodal sensors, including video cameras
Detection, classification, and tracking
Distributed processing, inference, control and actuation
Security
Applications and demonstrations
The special emphasis for SNA06 will be on information fusion in sensor network
s, and applications. We welcome proposals for special sessions on these two to
pics.
The conference is technically co-sponsored with IEEE.
Publication of the proceedings as a lecture note of computer sceince series is
under discussion with a European Publisher.
