Antenna-feedings do harm to the onboard element？

Sorry i can't type Chinese with this laptop...
I have a self-made Access Point for experiment---mainboard, wlan radio card with a power spliter connected to two antennas.
Recently I have to replace the radio card frequently, since those cards were found go defected fast.
Finally the pigtail between radio card and the power spliter was found broken, which means the VSWR measured from the radio card side connector of the pigtail was terrible, around 2.3-2.7...
Can this be the reason for faster defecting of the radio cards?

it is possible
Commercial transmitter tend to have matching detection in case that
quite large a reflection will damage the circuits.
