紧急请教一个无线网络的问题
我看到一篇论文,说是broadcast range大于unicast range。因此很困惑。
这个要看文章讨论的场景吧
如果unicast用定向天线,broadcast用全向天线,那么传播距离应该是定向天线远点,前提是发射功率相同

对方论文里面没提到天线设置。我想应该不是这个问题。
陈述这个结论的那篇论文是这么解释的。如下:
We observed that the rate at which broadcast packets were
sent was set to 2 Mb/s while we were using 11 Mb/s for user
data. We changed user transmission rate to other standardized
802.11b rates (1, 2 and 5.5 Mb/s), but the broadcast packets were
consistently transmitted at 2 Mb/s. Since transmission power
was constant, difference in transmission rates resulted in different
transmission ranges for the broadcast and unicast packets.
Packets transmitted using lower bit rates use a more robust modulation
scheme, have more energy per transmitted bit and hence
can be sent further than their higher bit rate counterparts.We observed
range differences of approximately 10%, i.e., broadcast
packets could be transmitted approximately 10% further than
unicast messages when 11 Mb/s bit rate was used.
我犯糊涂了。transmission rate 和 transmission range还有关系?

具体的内容其实paper里说得很清楚,只是被你忽略了。。。
