Coaxial Dumbbell

?Tube - diameter: this is the inner diameter of the metallic tube into which is inserted the alternating slugs and rods; a sleeve of dielectric (also called tape) maintains the spacing between the slugs and the tube. A maximum inner diameter is shown, above which, the tube will become a waveguide.
?Slug - diameter: the diameter of the cylindrical slugs; an impedance value corresponding to this diameter is calculated and displayed
?Slug - length: each slug is the same length
?Rod - diameter: each rod has the same diameter unless the Enter diameters manually checkbox is checked. In this case, an additional screen will be presented when you click the Next button for entering individual diameters for each rod.
?Dielectric: the relative dielectric constant of the tape used to line the tube. When using teflon this value would be 2.1 for tight fitting components. Loose fits can be compensated for be reducing this value, for example to 1.9. The high impedance lines are not effected by this parameter. Since high to low impedance ratio should be as high as possible, the dielectric constant for the high impedance lines is set to 1.
