   Running the Smith Tool       

Running the Smith Tool

To start a Smith Tool session, after running a successful linear network analysis, do either of the following to open the Smith Tool dialog:

•  Click Product > Smith Tool.

•  With a polar report or Smith-chart report selected and active, click Report2D > Smith Tool.

The Smith Tool performs interactive matching-network synthesis at a single analysis frequency for a particular analysis of a specified circuit/subcircuit. Because multiple analyses may be available for multiple circuits when the Smith Tool dialog opens, be sure to begin each session by adjusting/confirming these settings at the bottom of the Smith Tool dialog:

•  In the Circuit list, select the circuit to which you want to add a matching network or networks. The matching network(s) you create will become as subcircuits of the circuit you select.

•  In the Solutions list, select the analysis on which you want to base your Smith Tool session.

•  In the Freq list, select the frequency for which your matching network(s) will be designed.
