Nexxim Simulator > Instance StatementsTo create an instance of an element in a circuit netlist, include an instance statement or instance card. (The term “card” recalls the early days of SPICE when the netlist consisted of a deck of Hollerith cards, rather than a file with lines of ASCII text.) The instance card has following general syntax: Yxxx node-list [modelname] [instance-parameters] The first entry is the name of the element instance in the netlist. Each name begins with an alphabetic character that identifies the type of element, followed by alphanumeric characters to create a unique name. The element-identity characters that Nexxim recognizes are listed in Table 2 below. The node-list identifies the names of the circuit nodes that the element is connected to. For element types such as resistors the netlist must specify a set number of nodes. For element types such as MOSFETs some nodes can be omitted from the node-list (omitted nodes are connected to ground). The modelname is the name associated with a .MODEL card elsewhere in the netlist providing model parameters for the element. Multiple element instances can share the same .MODEL card. For passive elements like resistors and capacitors, the modelname field is optional. Active elements such as diodes and FETs require a modelname. The instance-parameter values are specific to the instance or element card, and are not shared by any other instance in the netlist. These instance parameters are used along with the model parameters in the device equations.
