Loft Curves Mode
CurvesCurve ToolsLoft Curves
In this mode, you may interactively select profile and path curves
for the generation of a free-form surface.
Please note that all profiles and the path must belong to different
curves. To move items from one curve onto
another, use the Curve Change Curve operation.
The generated free form surface passes through all profile curves.
If a path curve is specified, the intersection vector between each profile
cross-section and the path curve will be calculated. These directions
will then be applied to the profile curves to determine the tangential
direction of the generated free form surface at the given profiles.
When you first enter the mode, you will be asked to double-click on
a curve to select the first profile curve for lofting. By moving the mouse
across the screen, all pickable curves at the mouse’s location will automatically
be highlighted. As soon as a curve is highlighted, you may double-click
on it to make your selection.
After the first profile curve has been selected, the next profile needs
to be selected in the same manner. This step-by-step selection of profile
curves may be ended by pressing the RETURN key. Please note that at least
two profile curves must be specified.
When the selection of profile curves is finished, the path curve may
optionally be specified. This stage may be skipped by pressing the RETURN
key.
After the curves have been selected, a loft curves dialog box appears
where you may specify a
, a
and a material
for the new shape.
You may terminate the mode at any time by pressing the ESC key.
