Orthomode TransducerTransient Analysis Examples - S-Parameter Calculations: Waveguide Devices
General Description
In this example the S-parameter calculation of an orthomode transducer is presented. The structure contains the connection of a circular waveguide with two by 90 degree rotated rectangular waveguides. The two orthogonal basic modes excited at the circular waveguide are aligned to the coordinate axes due to the definition of a polarization angle. The simulation shows the separation of the modes by coupling into one of the rectangular waveguides, respectively.
Structure Generation
The rectangular waveguide is modelled by solid bricks representing the inner air filling, while the coupling region to the circular waveguide is constructed with the definition of curves and their loft functionality to create solid shapes. The complete surrounding of the structure is given as PEC material by the settings of the background properties. Using the local coordinate system offers the possibility to create the different parts relative to each other.
Solver Setup
Three waveguide ports are defined at the ends of the given waveguides to perform the S-parameter calculation. The excitation signal is a Gaussian shaped pulse referring to the frequency range from 16 to 20 GHz. In order to get an additional visualization of the wave propagation concerning the two different modes an electric 3D field monitor is defined at a suitable frequency.
Post Processing
The resulting time signals and the corresponding scattering parameters of the transient calculation are listed in the navigation tree in the folder 1D Results. Regarding the absolute value of the S-parameter the expected separation of the two orthogonal modes is confirmed. The monitored 3D fields as well as the calculated port modes of the given waveguide ports can be found in the folder 2D/3D Results. HFSS视频教程 ADS视频教程 CST视频教程 Ansoft Designer 中文教程 |
