Farfield SourceIntegral Equation Solver Examples
General Description
In this example a farfield source is used to replace an antenna excitation in front of a dish. The ASCII farfield source file can be generated by every farfield calculated by CST MICROWAVE STUDIO (e.g. time domain, frequency domain or integral equation solver) or from any other software. Please see the online help for the supported format. This example uses a farfield source export from the circular horn antenna in the transient solver examples.
Structure Generation
The dish was created by a parabolic dish profile modeled as a spline curve, which was then swept along a circular path. All major dish parameters are parametrized to allow for an easy customization of the reflector. A ready-to-use reflector setup is part of the online construction macros (Home: Macros Construct Online).
Solver Setup
The Antenna template was used to generate the correct settings as open boundary conditions, background properties and units. A farfield source excitation was created. The imported farfield is stored in the navigation tree under Farfields FFSource. At the frequency where the farfield source is defined a farfield monitor is defined. In the solver settings dialog "Farfield" is selected as source type.
Post Processing
The resulting farfield is stored in the Farfields folder. In addition, two farfield postprocessing templates are defined to check the proper focusing of the reflector.
