Coplanar To Microstrip TransitionTransient Analysis Examples - S-Parameter Calculations: Transitions
General Description
In this example the S-parameter calculation of a coupling section between a coplanar and a microstrip line is shown. Both lines are placed at opposite sides of a dielectric substrate slightly overlapping each other in the direction of transmission to support the coupling process.
Structure Generation
The structure is modelled by defining bricks and using the possibility of subtracting solids from each other. The spacing around the structure is provided by setting appropriate background properties. Due to the symmetry of the structure only one half of it needs to be simulated, so that a suitable symmetry plane is activated.
Solver Setup
Two waveguide ports are defined, one at the coplanar line and one at the microstrip line, to determine the excitation sources. A Gaussian shaped pulse ensures a broadband calculation concerning the frequency range from 2 to 6 GHz. To obtain a result of high accuracy the energy based mesh adaption is turned on by using the planar coupler template, since these kind of structures tend to store high energy locally at edges rather than globally in volume.
Post Processing
The requested S-parameters are automatically derived from the time signals at the two ports and are listed in the navigation tree in the folder 1D Results. The device obviously offers a good transmission behavior at about 4 GHz. The results of the mesh adaption can be accessed from the 1D Results folder as well. Furthermore the calculated port modes of the given waveguide ports can be examined in the folder 2D/3D Results. HFSS视频教程 ADS视频教程 CST视频教程 Ansoft Designer 中文教程 |
