Two Coils

Magnetostatic Examples

General Description

This example shows the usage of the parameter sweep in combination with the inductance matrix calculation and the tetrahedral solver with adaptive mesh refinement. This example demonstrates the unique 'snapping' feature that also improves the geometry approximation during the adaptive refinement.

Structure Generation

The example structure is quite easy. Two coils are defined. The outer coil has a parameter dependent radius while the inner coil has a fixed radius. Additionally a permeable cylinder with a relative permeability of 1000 is defined on the center axis of the structure.

Solver Setup

The inductance matrix calculation is switched on. The magnetostatic solver can be started from the parameter sweep dialog after the inductance matrix watch and the variation parameter were added.

Post Processing

The inductance vs. the radius parameter plot can be accessed in the Tables folder. In addition the parameter view offers a lot of options to create plots afterwards: Post Processing: Manage ResultsParameter View .
