This example shows the calculation of a stroke magnet's static fields. The default nonlinear steel-1008 is used for the core and the load material.
The iron core is generated by an extrude which is mirrored at the symmetry plane. The structure is driven by a current coil, consisting of 1000 turns, carrying a current of 10 A. Two tangential symmetry conditions are used to limit the computational domain.
For this example the hexahedral mesh type is selected. The structure's mesh is refined at the air gaps by changing the "Mesh properties" of the spacer. Adaptive mesh refinement is switched off. After that the magnetostatic solver can be started.
After the calculation the B and H fields as well as the discretized source current are available in the "2D/3D Results" folder. Furthermore, as a post processing step, the force and torque for the different solids can be calculated (Results->Force Calculation...).
