Monitor on Edges or Curves

Simulation: Monitors Monitor on Entity Monitor on Edge

This dialog box gives you the opportunity to define monitors for transient simulations. You might need these monitors to obtain additional information on the electromagnetic field distribution inside your structure. After a calculation, you can observe your monitors by selecting them in the navigation tree.

Name and type definition

Name: Displays the name for the monitor either as a user input or automatically generated.

Automatic labeling: This check button enables or disables the automatic labeling for the defined monitor. The automatically generated label consists of  the selected monitor type, including an incremented number.

Type: This drop-down list offers a selection of monitors. The currently available monitor type allows voltage or source current observations. The latter is particularly meaningful to observe the current flowing along a voltage path.

Edge or Curve Selection

Invert orientation: Each connected set of edges or curves has an orientation which results from their definition and which in general depends on the order of picking. This orientation is indicated by arrows in the monitor preview (select the monitor in the navigation tree). It will influence the solver result computed for this monitor. Activate this checkbox to invert the orientation.

Use picked edges: This option is available only when edges were picked before the dialog box is opened to define the monitor. Please note that only edges are considered which belong to a solid (no Edges from Coordinates).

Use curves: This option is available only when curves were defined before the dialog box is opened to define the monitor. When you push the button List Curves you can hide or show a list of all defined curve items from which you can select the desired items via enabling or disabling the desired check boxes.
