Define Traction Boundary
Boundaries Traction Boundary
In this dialog, the properties of a traction boundary can be defined.
Traction is a vector value characterizing the amount and direction of
pressure applied to a surface. Mathematically, this is a projection of
the stress tensor onto the surface normal.
Name
Declare the name for the traction
boundary. Each traction boundary must have a unique name. This edit field
is disabled if the properties of an already existing traction boundary
are modified.
Traction
Carthesian: Define X, Y and Z components of the traction vector associated
with the boundary, in GPa. This vector would be equal for the whole surface.
Use the check-boxes to deactivate the definition of single components,
if displacement conditions should be defined for these components instead.
Normal: Define the pressure applied normally to the surface of a body,
in GPa. Positive traction value corresponds to the vector pointing outwards
of the body, negative value means the traction vector pointing inwards,
zero value is ignored.
