Move in Plane

Modeling: Picks Pick Lists Selected EdgesIn Plane

This dialog box allows you to change the coordinates of a picked edge which has previously been selected from the list box in the List of Picked Edges dialog box.

You may specify an Offset by which the edge will be translated perpendicular to the edge’s direction in its center but within the plane described by a previously selected planar area. This operation is most useful for defining rotation axes as shown in the example below.

Offset

Specify a valid expression for the distance by which the edge will be translated in the direction as described above.

Keep original item

This check box allows you to specify whether the original edge shall be kept or skipped when the translation is applied.

OK

Press this button to apply the specified translation to the selected edges. The display of the edges in the main view will be updated immediately.

Cancel

Closes this dialog box without performing any further action.

Example

The following example shows how a selected edges is translated in the plane described by a previously selected planar face. Finally the edge may be used as a rotation axis for the selected area to create a new solid.

While the ”Modify in Plane” dialog box is open, a red arrow indicates the direction for the translation of the selected edge.
