Bulk Conductivity

If a material’s losses due to bulk conductivity will be significant, such as in semiconductor dielectric materials, add a bulk conductivity value in the Bulk Conductivity Value text box. This loss parameter is entered separately from the dielectric loss tangent due to its differing frequency dependence.

Below are some typical bulk conductivity values for common semiconducting materials. A doping of level N = 1e16/m3 (atoms per cubic meter) has been assumed. The conductivity is directly proportional to the semiconductor’s doping level.
