Ways to Use the C Model Interface

The interface supports C models that have been created outside of Designer (e.g., in Visual Studio) and also allows C models to be created and edited from within Designer. The two main GUI components are the C Model Dialog and the C Model Editor. Here are some of the possible ways to use these components.

23. You have a C model dll created outside of Designer, but do not have the code used to create it. You use the C model dialog to define the pins and parameters and link to the dll. The C model editor is not used.

24. You have C model code with or without a dll. You create a control file called a model project file. You then use the C model dialog to define the pins and parameters and link to the model project file. You may also use the C model editor to make any desired code changes and to build a dll.

25. You have neither code nor dll. You use the C model dialog to define the pins and parameters and specify the path for a model project file to be created. You use the C model editor to create the code and build a dll. The code may be written from scratch or starting with a code template that is supplied by Designer. The code template outlines the interface functions required to support the specified pins, parameters, and component functionality, depending on the type of the C model.
