First Loop Filter Schematic Analysis

Open the First Loop Filter Schematic project from its file in the Examples directory.

1. On the File menu, select Open Examples. The File Open window appears.

2. Open the RF_Circuit directory, then the System directory, then select the file Loopfilter_1_NX.adsn. Click Open.

The filter schematic appears in the design window:

The circuit contains a source (RCONST) and a delay element (Z-D) from the System simulator component library and discrete resistors and capacitors from the Nexxim component library. The output probe (SP) is also from the System library.

1. Left-click on the RCONST element to display its property settings:

These parameters control the time-domain simulation in Nexxim, overriding the times specified for the Transient analysis.

2. Expand the loopfilter_1 project tree, and double-left-click on the Transient analysis icon. The times are Step=0.1ns and Stop=10ns, but these are overridden by the System source.

3. Right-click on the Transient analysis icon and select Analyze from the menu. The Progress window displays a red line to show the analysis as it runs.

4. Click on the Results icon and double click on SP_Out to see the results:

This graph shows the filtered samples over a time period of 20 microseconds (1024 samples at a sampling rate of 52e6 Hz).
