The Footprint Editor

The footprint editor opens when you begin to create or modify a footprint. Like the schematic and symbol editors, the footprint editor is a graphical tool that keeps the placement of footprint elements uniform by snapping them to points on a grid.

With the footprint editor, you can add and manipulate graphical primitives, text labels, pins, vias, and padstacks. You can also adjust the resolution, color, and visibility of the editor grid. When you’re done, you can update the current project with any changes you’ve made to the current footprint. Options related to these operations are available on the Footprint menu and the Footprint Draw menu.
