Viewing a Cross-Section of the Model

Click Cross-Section on the shortcut menu to select a cross-section of the model to view.

1. Change the view of the model to 3D: On the EM Design menu, click 3D Viewer.

2. Right-click on the model display, and then click Cross-Section on the shortcut menu. The Section Parameters window appears.

3. Move the X Clipping’s front slider with the mouse to adjust the cutting plane in the x direction.

• You may also enter a value in the text box to the right of the front slider to specify the x position of the cutting plane.

• Select Synchronized below the X Clipping sliders to move the front and back sliders at the same time.

4. Click Apply to see the cross-section created by your slider positions.

5. Move the Y Clipping’s front slider with the mouse to adjust the cutting plane in the y direction.

• You may also enter a value in the text box to the right of the front slider to specify the y position of the cutting plane.

• Select Synchronized below the Y Clipping sliders to move the front and back sliders at the same time.

6. Click Apply to see the cross-section created by your slider positions.

7. Select Dynamic in the Properties section to see the change in the cross-section’s appearance as the sliders move.

8. Click Reset to return the model to a normal view.

9. Click Close to close the Section Parameters window.

The Section Parameters window closes. The last cross-section view you specified in the Section Parameters window remains visible in the 3D view window.
